I've kept fish since I was a little girl back in the 60's. My first tank had a steel frame and slate bottom. Back then I kept fresh water and sat up as many tanks as my parents would allow. I was one of those college kids who had an aquarium instead of a TV.

It’s all my wife’s fault! It started with a gold fish and a bowl. She brought home this poor fish in a bowl with no filtration and I said "no this won't do" so we went out and got a 10 gallon starter kit. A year later I had 20 tanks running and was breeding angelfish. Now twelve years later, I’m still never satisfied with one tank heck I even have 2 on my desk at work.

I suppose you can say I’ve been an aquarist all my life. Some of my earliest memories are of my father’s aquaria. Racks of them in the garage as well as display tanks in the house, back when tanks were constructed of glass with iron frames, painted with Rust-o-leum and held together with putty.

it started with a Boy and a Betta. I'm a nurse and I bought a betta fish for a little boy who was hospital bound waiting for a kidney transplant. The call finally came and he was transported to a non-local hospital leaving me behind.... with his fish.

Back in August of 2005 I started The Talkingreef Podcast and The Talkingreef Community website. The website has grown to be a large and very welcomming community for hobbyist new and old. The podcast continue to break new ground, introducing new methods for delivering educational and informational content to all hobbyists. With so much great infomation out there and in our community forums i have lead the initiative to start Reefreaders, your new home home for static instructional and inforational articles relating to reefkeeping.

I came into this hobby in March 2006. My boss at the time had a 120gal salt tank stocked with an Eel, Clarkii, Carpet Anemone, Sailfin and a few crabs.  I have seen this tank many of times but for some reason when i saw it in febuary 2006 i was hooked!
